The gaze

There is just something about the way people back in the village look in the camera. I say in because they don’t look at it but right through it, through your shield and straight into your soul. It’s a disconcerting feeling.

  1. I think it’s because they aren’t concerned about the end result, they aren’t posing for the camera, they are just looking at you pointing an object at them, and they are mildly uncomfortable. They dont see the camera as a person as we have learnt to.

    • I’d agree to that.
      I’ve discovered I quite enjoy asking people to pose. It’s always interesting to see how people choose to represent themselves in front of the camera.
